Intercontinental Skype Improv with tENTATIVELY, a cONVENIENCE, Saturday 16 June 2018
On Saturday morning 16 June, 2018 (Melbourne time) and Friday evening, 15 June 2018 (Pittsburgh time), tENTATIVELY, a cONVENIENCE and I did a short improv on piano and synth (him) and iPad electronics (me) via Skype. The technology worked flawlessly, and we were able to improvise with each other quite fluidly. Our piece was about 9:30. This was part of tENT's 2018 project of doing a performance every day for a year, and a duet for every day in June. I include here the last 3 minutes of our improv, so you can hear the kind of sonic hijinx we got up to. We both were very happy with the way things went, so I hope we can do more of these. The image above was assembled by tENT - it gives an idea of the way things looked from both of our perspectives. tENT, on the left, with his piano and synth (in the background) and my hands with my Korg nano-Key, iPad (using Thumbjam and Elastic FX) and JBL Bluetooth speaker. Hope you enjoy the piece as well. If you can't see the flash sound player below, then download the excerpt mp3 HERE.
